For once we have some good news to report. There is some new youth funding available. It comes in two forms. £4,000 available to the local LJC, which is generally the rural South West, and £3,000 specifically ring fenced for Bishops Castle.
Applications are now open.
Groups that have benefited from funding like this in the past, include, The football club. the scouts and AMP.
As I mentioned in my last leaflet after heading down to a BC youth evening. Some of the youngsters said they wanted to make improvements to the skate park. We talked about adding a small set of benches with a covering. This would hopefully give some of the teenagers somewhere else to hang out, rather than the toddlers play area.
I took this to town council, who responded positively. They even said they would help with some match funding. I have also been approached since then by some fantastic members of the community that would be willing to donate some time. This is just one group that would benefit from some of this money. I’m going to push this forward with the help of some other town Councillors. Your comments and ideas are welcomed.
We are now asking the community to search high and low for any other groups who may need this money. Another idea that was mentioned today was forming some summer holiday groups. Comment your suggestions on the Facebook post or below.
The main focus of this money is to ensure all children are safe and well looked after in a supportive environment. Narrowing the achievement gap in education and work. Ensuring the emotional well-being of children and young people. Keeping more children healthy and reducing health inequalities.
Thanks for reading! I look forward to hearing your ideas.
